#1 Rated penetrating end sealer for cut ends of wood decks, steps & walkways

Protection for wood decking starts at the first cut. Applying a high-quality end sealer to freshly cut ends of deck boards, protects against drying cracks, splits, water damage & decay. Durable, Eco-friendly protection is provided by our long-lasting, water-based SEAL ENDS ONCE.  End cuts of wood decks & lumber dry out faster than the center, which can lead to unsightly end checks (drying splits) that can spread quickly.  These end cuts also expose lumber to the elements and require added protection to prevent water intrusion that can lead to mold, mildew, warping & cupping.

Our penetrating formula is the best protection for your deck and lumber.  It is a great investment to preserve the look of your wood deck, railings and steps.  SEAL ENDS ONCE uses a proprietary nanotechnology to form a flexible, breathable barrier by coating the wood fibers at the cellular, unlike most wax end sealers that form a wax top-coat. SEAL ENDS ONCE is the best choice to seal the ends of your deck.

Warranted to prevent long-standing water accumulation for up to 10 years on vertical & up to 6 years on horizontal surfaces. Not recommended for concrete driveways or garage floors.

Recommended for cut ends of all soft & hardwood lumber including:
Cedar Ipe Mahogany Cumaru  Bamboo Timbersil Redwood  Tigerwood  Fir Pressure treated lumber Teak Brazilian Cherry

Product Details

  • All surfaces should be cleaned before sealing for best penetration and performance.
  • Remove all old coatings, dust, debris and loose material. Remove oil, grease, algae, grime, mill glaze and mold and mildew stains with appropriate cleaners. Recommend SEAL-ONCE All Wood Cleaner.
  • Test absorbency after cleaning by sprinkling water on surface. If the water does not readily penetrate the surface, stripping will be necessary to remove old coatings.
  • Do not use if air or surface temperature is below 45°F/7.22°C or above 95°F/35°C.
  • Do not apply in rain or when rain is imminent. For all stains (including Ready-Mixed), intermix gallons and stir to ensure color consistency.
  • DO NOT THIN. Mix well. Stir contents or shake thoroughly prior to use.
  • Test a small area to ensure acceptable appearance and penetration.
  • Apply first coat to end cuts using a synthetic brush or stain pad.
  • Second coat can be applied once first coat has penetrated but is still damp. Second coat must be applied within one hour of applying first coat.
  • For best results, apply in the shade and out of direct sunlight.
  • When applying in direct sunlight and wood surface is hot, spray with a mist of water and apply SEAL ENDS ONCE immediately on dampened surface.
  • Do not use with other waterproofing products.
  • Remove excess stain sitting or puddling on the surface. Back brush or use a rag to wipe away any runs, drips, or puddles that have not soaked in.
  • Allow approximately 2-3 hours, for surface to dry, depending on temperature and humidity.
  • Allow 12-24 hours for full cure, depending on temperature and humidity.
  • When recoating, apply as soon as previous coat has penetrated and surface is damp, not wet. Second coat must be applied within one hour of applying first coat.
  • Clean all application equipment with warm soapy water.
  • Disposal: soap and water cleanup; no special disposal procedure needed.
  • Store above 32°F/0°C to protect from freezing.
  • Shelf life (unopened): 3 years
  • Surfaces that have been treated with SEAL ENDS ONCE can be cleaned using a mixture of 1 gallon warm water, 14 oz. bleach, and 1 oz. of Dawn® dish detergent. Apply this cleaning solution with a sprayer and allow to sit for 20 to 30 minutes on the wood surface before rinsing with water using a garden hose with a nozzle.
  • This cleaning solution can be used to remove airborne mold and mildew stains, dirt and grime from the wood surface. SEAL ENDS ONCE will prevent and resist any water, mold and mildew penetration. Do not use oxidizers, corrosives, or strippers on surfaces that have been treated with SEAL ENDS ONCE.
  • Surfaces can be recoated with SEAL ENDS ONCE at any time. SEAL ENDS ONCE may need to be reapplied in places where the surface may have undergone noticeable changes.
  • Before reapplying SEAL ENDS ONCE, clean the surface using the recommended cleaning solution above. Apply SEAL ENDS ONCE according to package instructions. When reapplying in small areas, lightly overlap onto areas previously treated with SEAL ENDS ONCE.
